Heidi Klum for Jordache

Denim is an American icon. The fabric can be dyed, worn out, distressed, bleached, sanded down, ripped, and pretty much anything else you can think of. Jeans used to be only about shape (think, bell bottoms, wide, boot cut, straight leg, etc.) but the market has exploded in the past few years, especially in the premium denim sector. Companies like True Religion, Rock & Republic, Evisu, 7 For All Mankind, Diesel and Citizens for Humanity paved the way and became ever so popular. Now the market includes jean companies like Paige Premium Denim, J Brand, Frankie B., AG Jeans, Earnest Sewn, Joe’s Jeans, PRVCY, Hudson, William Rast, Current/Elliott, Genetic, PRPS, Richa & Skinny and countless others.

Old school retailers like Levis, Wrangler, Jordache and Mavi are making a comeback with their classic fits in addition to new styles with classic washes. Companies like Levis has added premium lines like {Capital E} Jeans. Jordache launched Jordache by Heidi Klum to re-brand their image.

Premium denim has been all the rage, but now, its all about quality at low prices. Often referred to as recession denim, less expensive jean sales have been growing.

Retailers all over have launched their own denim lines. BDG at Urban Outfitters, Divine Rights of Denim at Arden B, Club Monaco Denim, Forever 21 jeans, and Gap 1969, and Banana Republic denim are a few examples of appropriately priced jeans.

Denim can work wonders for your wardrobe. Guys, you should have at least one pair of dark denim. Dark/black denim is usually appropriate for Casual Fridays and can take you from day to night without having to change outfits. But back to Mod Guide v1 and v2, FIT IS EVERYTHING! I’ll be sure to cover fit and wash in the near future.

For now, keep your monies in your pockets (at least until I cover fit and wash!). Oh, and Black Friday is coming up. I’m sure you can score some great deals this year!

Don’t forget about Target Mossimo jeans. That’s quality. Oh, and the ones at Ross…hot.
