Collaborations

Posted in Uncategorized by modman on November 13, 2009

+J (Jil Sander for Uniqlo)

Collaborations between high-end designers and retailers are quite popular, and there are many more to look forward to within the next few months. Here are some future projects that are greatly anticipated.

Future Projects:
Sonia Rykiel + H&M = Lingerie Lovely
Jean Paul Gaultier + Target = The American Woman
Rodarte + Target

Past/Present Collaborations:
Jil Sander + Uniqlo = +J
Robert Geller + Levis = Denim Workwear

H&M + (Karl Lagerfeld, Comme des Garcons, Matthew Williamson, Jimmy Choo)

Target + (Alexander McQueen, Anna Sui, Erin Fetherston, Jovovich-Hawk, Rogan, Richard Chai, Jonathan Saunders, Thakoon, Tracy Feith) = amazing

Top Shop + designers = White Shirt Project
Gap + designers = White T-Shirt Project

Collaborations definitely test a designers ability to create pieces that are within a designers aesthetic while being affordable. Past and present designers have incredible reputations. Their designer lines are focused on modern luxury, and the prices reflect great quality and design. The most difficult part for a collaborating designer is to produce items that are at such a low price point. Good news for consumers: low prices = thumbs up. Designers are taking advantage of collaboration deals, especially during the

recession. So double thumbs up for us!
